In The Moment ... May 18, 2017 Show 096 Hour 2

Sometimes a kid just needs a place of compassion and safety while a family heals. That's where foster families come in. The Department of Social Services has designated May as Foster Parent Appreciation and Awareness Month for South Dakota. We begin hour two of In the Moment with a conversation about foster families. Joining us are Kevin Kanta, Jessica Morson, and Marnie Boterman.

The Mniluzahan Okolakiciyapi Ambassadors continue to work to build understanding, connection, and reconciliation between Native and non-Native South Dakotans. Their May 4th presentation "An Inconvenient Truth: The History Behind Sioux San Lands and West Rapid City" brought an overflow crowd. The group is offering another presentation tonight. Karen Mortimer joins In the Moment with details.

CASA volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates. Kehala Two Bulls joins us now from the SDPB studios in Rapid City to talk about upcoming volunteer training and how you can be a part of it in the Pennington County area.
