Lawmakers Urge President to Pardon South Dakota Archeologist

Senate Lawmakers have passed a resolution urging the President to pardon archeologist Pete L. Larson. Larson led a team that discovered a Tyrannosaurus Rex near Faith, South Dakota. The T-Rex, nicknamed Sue, is one of the largest ever found. After the discovery a series of lawsuits and accusations ensued. Around that time Larson was also charged and convicted of two customs violations. Larson served two years in federal prison for the conviction. Senator Betty Olson supports the resolution. She says Larson has done great things for the South Dakota tourism industry and for the state.

"Pete is an outstanding guy. He’s done more for the paleontology statewide and worldwide than anybody I can think of," says Olson.

The resolution passed unanimously. It now will be delivered to the President for his consideration.
