Emerging Artists Series

The Emerging Artists Series celebrates the talents of different artists around South Dakota and provides a nurturing place for them to be seen, heard, and to grow. On November 15th, 2013, the series featured Under the Bus and Chris Cady and on June 22nd, 2013, the 605 Summer Classic featured El Dub.

Under the Bus

Under the Bus has been together for about three and a half years. The band has played at local outdoor festivals including the Solstice Shakedown and the Hemp Hoedown. They play a combination of originals and covers that gravitate around reggae, alternative, jazz, instrumental, heavy rock, and funk. Under the Bus features Danny Kirst on guitar, James Preston on bass, Jim Leon on drums, Shawn Parker on saxophone, and Pati Schmidt on auxiliary instruments.

Chris Cady

A veteran of the road for twenty years, Cady has played throughout the Midwest, including Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Cady has independently produced five albums with his bands Brother Otis, Sweatband, and Violent Hippie. His live show features various influences and styles from traditional and Americana music, reggae, psychedelic rock, acoustipunk, classic country, and good old-fashioned rock-n-roll.

El Dub

El Dub is what you call a "looper" or a "One-Man Band." He plays all instruments live including beat-boxing, guitar, bass, keys and harmonizing vocals and loops them into layers. His home is Sioux Falls, but he plays more than 300 shows a year over the U.S. El Dub is working on his third album.
