The South Dakota Friends of Traditional Music welcomed The Dead Pigeons to headline the 37th annual Sioux River Folk Festival at Newton Hills State Park. The Dead Pigeons delighted fans with their mix of original barroom bluegrass and cover songs like Alice in Chains' "Rooster" and "Seven Nation Army" from the White Stripes catalog.
The Dead Pigeons formed about seven years ago, playing shows at Palmer's Bar on the west bank in Minneapolis. The band is fronted by Drew Peterson who has been part of the Minneapolis music scene for over 20 years.
Still evolving, The Dead Pigeons are homegrown musicians - unique in performing their upbeat Americana, roots and bluegrass music.
