Dakota Midday: Stephanie Arne's Wild Adventure Begins

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom

Four months after being named Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom’s new wild guide, South Dakota native Stephanie Arne’s first webisodes as program host are premiering. Arne and the Wild Kingdom film crew traveled to several locations to feature footage of many animals and environments. The premiere webisode, “Reef Madness,” highlights the coral reef restoration in the Florida Keys.

“We’ve got four incredible stories to tell. I went back to my roots in ‘Where the Buffalo Roam,’ which was filmed in South Dakota,” Arne says. “I also got to explore the coral reef in Florida. They’re doing some really creative things to replenish the reef.”

Stephanie Arne grew up in Pierre and graduated from South Dakota State University. She began her career at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha as Education Outreach Coordinator. She’s currently Education Coordinator at the Honolulu Zoological Society. She was chosen as the new host of Wild Kingdom in a nationwide online competition with more than 200 other candidates.

Arne says each webisode is roughly six to seven minutes long. The wild guide host says she is excited to see the public’s reaction through her journey of telling stories with Wild Kingdom. To see the entire first episode of this season’s Wild Kingdom, click here.
