Congresswoman Not Ready To Reveal 2014 Plans

U.S. Representative Kristi Noem

U.S. Representative Kristi Noem says she is not ready to reveal her plans for the 2014 election.  Former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds, who formally entered the race Thursday, says he and Noem visited Wednesday night. Rounds says Noem offered congratulations but wouldn’t tell him whether she is planning a Senate run.

“Well, I just got done with a re-election campaign.  And I’m focused on dealing with all these issues we have going on here in Washington," Noem says. "I believe the voters want me to be focused on that—I’m trying to push for a farm bill and dealing with this fiscal cliff, and that’s where I am right now and what I’m working on."

Noem is beginning her second term in the House. She has been mentioned as a potential senate candidate in two years.  Some experts have said Rounds may have made an early announcement on his campaign to discourage Noem and others from entering the race.
