Black Hills Chocolates Debut At GRAMMYS

A product made in the heart of the Black Hills is scheduled to make a backstage appearance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Truffles made by a Deadwood chocolate shop are part of the Presenter and Performer official gift bags at the annual music awards event.

When this year’s GRAMMY tribute to the late jazz great Dave Brubeck takes place, folks in the audience may be chewing a piece of Moose Toffee or Signature Dark truffle from Chubby Chipmunk Hand-Dipped Chocolates. Owner Chip Tautkus says after being invited to provide chocolates to the Country Music Association Awards, her next big-time request was from The GRAMMYS.

"They just called a few weeks ago and said, ‘Hey, how about doing The GRAMMYS?’ says Tautkus. “And I’m going, oh, my gosh, really? They’re planning on taking our little tins around to the lounge area and promoting it.”

Chip Tautkus is amazed at how far her shop has come since it started in 2005.

Tautkus sees her job as spreading the good word of delicious chocolate – whether in the Black Hills or Beverly Hills.
