Albert And Gage With Kenny Putnam - Part 1

This concert is the first of a two-part program featuring Albert and Gage with special guest Kenny Putnam, recorded July 27th at the Matthews Opera House in Spearfish.  Christine Albert and Chris Gage formed their duo in 1997 after Albert saw her future partner perform with West Texas alt-country singer/songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore.  Albert moved to Austin, Texas in 1982.  Among her credentials are a trio of "Franco-Lone Star" fusion albums and an appearance on Austin City Limits.  Gage's roots are in South Dakota where he led the Red Willow Band in the mid-70's and early 80's.  He appeared on Hee Haw, The Tonight Show and The Grand Ole Opry as Roy Clark's piano player prior to becoming Jimmie Dale Gilmore's bandleader.  Fellow South Dakotan Kenny Putnam joined Albert and Gage on fiddle at the Matthews Opera House.  Putnam also toured with Roy Clark and the Red Willow Band.  Albert and Gage included several selections written by South Dakota songwriter Tom Peterson in this concert.
