A native of Milbank, SD, Hugh Weber is host and creator of The Potluck Society, a podcast that celebrates ordinary people who are building an extraordinary community and connects them with each other and people, places and ideas around the world. Hugh contributes weekly segments from the podcast to "In The Moment with Lori Walsh.” Since 2009, Hugh has served as Founder and Curator for OTA, a for-purpose organization focused on sparking regional transformation through creative connections and collisions in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Beyond this work, Hugh uses a variety of research, branding, experience design and community organizing skills as CEO and Curator of the Institute of Possibility to reveal the rich stories, vibrant culture and infinite possibility that often lays hidden in the communities that we love most. Through this work, Hugh has been designated by Ford Motor Company as a “heavy hitter” in social media storytelling and honored as their “social activism” challenge winner in 2009. He has partnered with Microsoft, Nintendo, Carnival Cruise Lines, Nokia, and Ford as a social influencer and has been quoted and referenced by the Washington Post, Inc. Magazine, Glamour Magazine, New Zealand National Radio, Chicago Tribune, Slate.com's The Gist, Pregnancy Magazine, the Associated Press, Philadelphia Inquirer, Wisconsin Public Radio and many OTA region publications and programs.
In 2008, Hugh created a popular website and social media project called "Dude to Dad", which grew to include a social media following of 85,000 fathers and two bestselling books in Amazon's Parenting and Fatherhood categories.
Hugh lives in the OTA states with his wife, Amy; his daughter, Emerson; and his son, Finn.
